Nintendo has just developed an alarm clock called Alarmo

Alarm! Like a sudden ringtone, Nintendo's latest surprise product appeared out of nowhere. The Switch 2 won't be released until 2025, but in the meantime, Nintendo has a new kind of musically themed watch with seemingly surprisingly advanced technology. Yes, it's an alarm clock. It's called Alarmo. And it's available now if you know how to get it.

Well… what's Alarmo again?

The round display alarm clock is an internet-connected device with various music themes and graphics linked to Nintendo games. Zelda, Mario, Ring Fit Adventure… they're here. But it gets even stranger: Alarmo also has motion sensors. As you move back and forth, Alarmo adds appropriate sound effects to the alarm. You may hear coins or Splatoon paintballs. Then you get up and Alarmo celebrates.

It can be purchased from Nintendo Stores or ordered through Nintendo now, but requires a Switch Online subscription. Nintendo says it will come to other stores in early 2025.

But it can do even more: the watch measures sleep movements and tracks them; it has gentle or more intense alarm modes; And it can play relaxing music at bedtime. It sounds like a smart sleep watch meets an immersive Nintendo bedside friend.

In many ways, this watch almost sounds like a product Disney would sell. Since Nintendo already has retail stores, movies, and theme parks, perhaps that's the point. $100 is a lot for an original gift, but it also looks like a smart device that actually updates over time. There are 35 scenes loaded from five different games (Mario Odyssey, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4 and, oddly enough, Ring Fit Adventure), but Nintendo promises more as time goes on.

It also feels like a classic Nintendo wildcard game. Mario Kart Live, Play & Watch And these mini consoles were surprise gifts too. Alarmo feels even more unusual, but it's also aimed squarely at Nintendo fans and their wallets.

As soon as we get one to try out soon, we'll have some test impressions. Oh yes, we will wake up with Alarmo.
