The San Diego Padres reportedly boycotted in-game interviews with Fox Sports reporter Ken Rosenthal during NLDS Game 3 against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, according to the Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribuneafter Rosenthal wrote a critical article about Manny Machado and the Padres after Game 2.

Acee noted that the Padres had only planned to boycott interviews for one game.

In the column, Rosenthal described Machado carelessly throwing a ball into the Dodgers' dugout during a heated game as a “punk reaction” and called it a “sinister sling.” He wrote that Machado is “fully willing to engage in behavior that some would consider unbecoming, and he makes no apologies for it.”

He also described Fernando Tatís Jr. as a “smiling, dancing peacock” and Jurickson Profar as “the boy who pulls the fire alarm at school and then asks, 'Who, me?'”

In addition to the boycott, Tatís responded by adding emojis of a dancing man and a peacock to his Instagram Stories following Tuesday's 6-5 Game 3 win.

The Dodgers were not pleased with Machado's throw into the dugout, as manager Dave Roberts felt it was directed at him. No particularly hard throw was seen in video of the incident, and no one was hit by the baseball.

The incident remains a point of contention heading into Game 3 tonight, da @Alden_Gonzalez reported: https://t.co/grEVYusdPY pic.twitter.com/Qo0CGqqeVz

The game featured, among other things, Profar and Tatís chatting back and forth with Dodgers fans in the outfield, Tatís getting hit by a pitch, and Dodgers fans in the outfield and bullpen throwing pitches and baseballs at the Padres, among other points of contention to name.

However, the Machado throw in particular was a big talking point, and Profar told reporters that all of Game 2's drama “motivated us.”

“Like all these things – all these lies, I don’t know, man. It's a great team over there. I don’t think they need all these lies,” he continued. “We just have to play baseball. …The way Fernando dances. You insult us. You throw things. You do everything. What should he do? He reacts like that, he dances like that because.” From you. And they make it look like he's dancing and taunting the fans. Really?

Game 3, while another fantastic match, was a far less contentious affair. However, with the Dodgers now just one loss away from elimination, it wouldn't be surprising to see this rivalry flare up again in Game 4.
