Shohei Ohtani is well on his way to achieving something not seen in baseball history since Ty Cobb

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night at Dodger Stadium. The 6-3 defeat puts the Dodgers at 92-63 this season. They have the best record in the National League along with the Philadelphia Phillies and are the number 1 seed in the upcoming playoffs.

Although he didn't generate the same excitement as the previous two nights, Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani still had an impact on the game, hitting 1-for-3 with a single, a run and a stolen base. That stolen base was his 53rd of the season and puts him on pace to accomplish something not seen since Ty Cobb in 1909.

According to Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

Shohei Ohtani is second in the MLB in HR and SB

Players who finished a season in the top 2 in MLB in both HR and SB:

1909 Ty Cobb
1908 Honus Wagner

Ohtani simply has such a rare combination of power and speed, which is why we'll see this for the first time in 115 years. He trails only New York Yankees star Aaron Judge in home runs and trails only Cincinnati Reds sensation Elly De La Cruz in stolen bases.

The 30-year-old is named the National League MVP with his .297 batting average, 52 home runs, 122 RBIs and 53 stolen bases. If he wins the MVP award, he will join Frank Robinson as the only players in baseball history to win the MVP award in both leagues.

The Dodgers and Rockies will play against each other again on Sunday afternoon.
