Investigations revealed the former CCSD trustee moved to Nebraska in April

News 3 has obtained the investigative records of a Clark County School District trustee who resigned last month after being accused of living out of state.

The documents came from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department as part of a records request related to its investigation into former trustee Katie Williams.

Investigators say the former trustee, who represented District B, moved to Nebraska starting in April and planned to move starting in March.

In the report, LVMPD also requested that an arrest warrant be issued against Williams for unlawful exercise of power.

Documents show that between April 3 and Aug. 8, Williams made motions, influenced decisions or was a deciding vote on the school board even though he was no longer a “bona fide resident” of Nevada.

The investigation came at the request of the Clark County District Attorney's Office after several trustees and community attorneys requested an investigation.

District Attorney Steve Wolfson sent Katie Williams a letter on Sept. 4 asking her to resign. She did so a week later after Wolfson filed a petition with the court but denied that she lived out of state.

The investigative report, signed in mid-September, shows that Williams enrolled her daughter in the Nebraska school system in March for the upcoming school year.

Investigators discovered that Williams' current address was in Gretna, Nebraska, and discovered that her fiancé purchased the home on March 18, 2024.

It also states that Williams' fiancé provided a notarized letter indicating that Williams and her daughter would be living with him at his home in Nebraska beginning March 19.

Investigators said they confirmed with the U.S. Postal Service that Williams filed a change of address from her home in Nevada to Nebraska on April 13.

Other clues police found that led them to believe Williams lived in Nebraska included social media posts from April indicating she worked with a Nebraska-based law firm that did not have an office in Nevada has.

Police discovered that Williams' energy usage also dropped between February and April at her North Las Vegas home.

Documents show investigators also conducted four surveillance operations at her North Las Vegas home in early June. At that time there were no cars or people coming and going.

A question the investigation doesn't answer, a question many people are asking: Did anyone in the county know Williams was living out of state and keep it a secret?

Williams tells News 3 the DA's office denied a request to prosecute her and no arrest warrant has been issued for her.

“I also hope that LVMPD will investigate how this got leaked to the media with the same passion with which they have sought to prosecute me,” Williams said in a text message.

News 3 also reached out to CCSD officials and asked if their votes were being re-audited since April. This report will be updated if they provide a response.
