No, Hurricane Milton did not flood Disney World in Florida. Here's the truth about these viral pictures

ORLANDO – Pictures are going viral on the Internet showing what appears to be a heavily flooded Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

The problem? The pictures are fake.

On Thursday, a Facebook user named “Reggie Allen” posted the images, which quickly garnered thousands of reactions and shares.

“Walt Disney World in Orlando is now completely flooded,” the post reads. “The park is temporarily closed.”

Hurricane Milton made landfall near Sarasota late Wednesday evening, then moved through central Florida toward the Atlantic Ocean, leaving widespread flooding in its wake.

However, according to CinemaBlend, the flood images were simply generated using AI

“The images are AI creations,” reports CinemaBlend. “While it is unclear whether the post intentionally created the AI images or simply republished them from another source, please know that whatever you see is not real. There have been no reports of major flooding at Disney World.”

Although Disney has not released any information about possible storm damage to its parks, the company said it plans to reopen its parks on Friday, October 11th.

The parks were closed earlier this week ahead of Milton's arrival to prepare for the storm's impact. This makes Milton one of ten hurricanes that force Disney to close its parks.
