The governor of Michigan feeds the kneeling podcast host Doritos while she wears a Harris Walz hat

A video showing Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, D., feeding a kneeling “feminist” podcast host a Doritos chip while wearing a Harris/Walz Cameo campaign hat sparked questions and questions on Thursday criticism.

Author and filmmaker Liz Plank shared the video on her feminist Instagram account, which shows Whitmer kneeling and feeding her a Doritos chip.

“If he doesn’t do it, Gretchen Whitmer will,” reads a caption under the Instagram video post. “Not only are chips delicious, the CHIPS Act fundamentally changes technology and manufacturing in the U.S. by boosting domestic production of semiconductors to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers! Donald Trump would jeopardize that.”

She also shared the video on TikTok with the caption: “New interview with Big Gretsch just released!”

The video caused a stir on social media as critics called Whitmer a mocking Catholic.

“Let’s be clear about what’s happening in this video,” former Trump adviser Tim Murtaugh posted on Walz hat. Do they want ZERO Catholic votes for Harris?”

However, some linked it to a TikTok trend where people feed each other. Earlier this week, there was a trend called “Feeding Someone,” with videos showing friends and partners feeding each other food. Some videos have been viewed millions of times.

“This is a Tiktok trend that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Catholicism…that's pretty far-fetched,” conservative social media influencer Amala Ekpunobi wrote on X.

When reached for comment, a political adviser to Whitmer told Fox News Digital, “The governor's social media is known for infusing her communications with pop culture.”

The adviser added: “This popular trend has been used by countless people, including Billie Eilish, Kylie Jenner and Stephen Colbert, and the fact that people are paying attention to a video promoting President Biden's CHIPS law proves that it works. Republicans want to distract from the fact that Democrats have invested billions of dollars in the local economy to create record numbers of jobs and bring supply chains back from overseas, while Donald Trump's policies would destroy those jobs and send them back to China.

Plank also said the video was part of the social media trend and urged “crazy people” to “relax.”

The video posted by Plank was used to promote Whitmer's appearance on her podcast called “Chip Chat.” posted on YouTube on Thursday.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer appeared on a podcast called Chip Chat that was released on YouTube on Thursday.

“What would you say to a man who feels like he can't vote for a woman, he can't vote for Kamala Harris?” Plank asked.

“We deserve and need a commander in chief who is tough,” Whitmer responded. “We will have to deal with the worst tyrants in the world. From Vladimir Putin to Chinese leadership to what's happening in North Korea. We need a tough commander in chief, not someone who kowtows… or who goes on an ego trip.”
