Photos and videos show the police situation on Interstate 65 from different angles

AUTAUGA COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) – Photos and videos from the scene of a police operation on Interstate 65 in northern Autauga County show numerous police officers, some with weapons drawn and pointed, during a tense situation that began Friday afternoon.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency closed I-65 near the 192 mile marker around 12:20 p.m. and remained completely closed for more than two hours while dozens of officers swarmed the scene. ALEA has since reopened all but one northbound lane, but few confirmed details about the incident have been released as of 3 p.m

Law enforcement has not yet said what caused the apparent persecution, who was involved and whether anyone would be charged as a result.

As traffic came to a standstill, numerous commuters close to the scene began sharing their photos and videos with WSFA 12 News, including one of a person surrounded by police officers who appeared to be in the process of being taken into custody.

Bystander video shows someone being taken into police custody after an apparent chase that ended on I-65 in Autauga County.

Bystanders reported the incident was a high-speed chase, with one of them, Hunter Reese, sharing video of the chase with WBRC before the chase ended.

Another bystander, Kelsi Owens, was the passenger in a vehicle traveling north when the situation brought traffic to a standstill. Owens' vision allowed her to see numerous police officers gathered off the roadway and an embankment near a tree line.

Owens shared videos and photos of the situation.

In this viewer-submitted video, several police officers are seen during a situation along I-65 in Autauga County.

Owens' video confirmed multiple reports that the state had deployed its ALEA helicopter to the area in addition to several law enforcement officers.

A WSFA 12 News crew that was on scene was passed on the rescue trail by heavy police vehicles that were on scene.
