Facing an opponent 82 places behind the Super Eagles in the FIFA rankings, Augustine Eguavoen decided to demonstrate his tactical flexibility.

The interim coach abandoned the conservative formation he used against Benin and Rwanda last month and fielded the Eagles in a more aggressive 4-3-3 formation.

It would have been the biggest talking point of the game had Nigeria not found a late winner.

Moses Simon is Nigeria's most skilled dribbler

After some subpar performances for club and country, Samuel Chukwueze was relegated to the Libya substitutes' bench.

Moses Simon took Chukwueze's place in the starting XI and showed the AC Milan winger how to play on the wings.

Simon led several Nigerian attacks, dribbling with ease and sending dangerous balls into the Libyan penalty area.

The FC Nantes player was Nigeria's biggest threat in this encounter.

In the end his excellent play was rewarded when he provided the assist to Fisayo Dele-Bashiru who scored the winning goal.

Alex Iwobi needs to add an end product to his game

Despite his flair, stylish hairstyle and versatility on the pitch, Iwobi offers very little for the Super Eagles in the final third.

The Fulham star managed just two assists in his last 32 games for Nigeria and had several chances to improve on that tally against Libya.

However, he missed Nigeria's best chances in both halves and should have been taken off the field earlier when Raphael Onyedika replaced him in the 74th minute.

Ten minutes on the pitch and Dele-Bashiru showed Iwobi how a playmaker puts the finishing touches to a team move.

Boniface's problems with the Super Eagles continue

Victor Boniface is Nigeria's second most valuable player after Galatasaray's Victor Osimhen.

However, Bonifatius at Bayer Leverkusen is a different beast than the shy boy who plays for the Super Eagles. Nigeria's attack looked slow, uninspired and unimaginative, which is why the Super Eagles missed Victor Osimhen against a relaxed Libya defense that was on hand.

It's now nine games without a Super Eagles goal for Boniface, who may have his starting jersey taken away by Taiwo Awoniyi.
