Jason Voorhees flies into space in this “Friday the 13th” 4K video from Arrow

Although there hasn't been a new film in the last 15 years and the… Crystal Lake Prequel series has its own problems, Friday the 13th has been getting a lot of love lately. Not just because it's spooky season. Jason Voohees remains a pop culture icon, and the famous slasher killer is also getting some new physical media releases along the way. Friday the 13th Part II was just part of the Paramount Scares Volume 2 4K box set, while Arrow Video released the 2009 remake on 4K for the first time last month. Arrow isn't stopping any time soon it seems Jason X will join the boutique label's extensive horror range.

There are currently no further details on the release or a release window, but this is just exciting Friday the 13th Fans are one step closer to witnessing all of Jason's camp misadventures on 4K. If Paramount continues their release trend, they have six more films to date (Part III – Part VIII) to set up 4K.



What is “Jason X” about?

In a franchise where Jason Voorhees became a zombie, take a trip to New York City and fight one Carrie-like telekinetic teenager, Jason X remains Friday the 13this the wildest swing. Mainly because it takes place in the future and in space. In the year 2455, in the 2002 film, Jason wakes up after being cryogenically frozen. Even though it's a different century, Jason is still as bloodthirsty as ever and goes on another killing spree in the spaceship that transports him. Although it is arguably the worst film in the series in the last two decades, Jason X has developed quite a cult following. The film's most iconic moment, the Frozen head smash, is another reason why it's on most slasher fans' rewatch list every Halloween. It's better and more entertaining than Jason X'S 20% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes gives him credit for it.
