The Los Angeles Sparks, Dallas Wings, Chicago Sky and Washington Mystics will participate on the 24thTh annual WNBA Draft Lottery. The 2025 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm is currently scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2025. Additionally, the league announced today that expansion team Golden State Valkyries, scheduled to begin play in 2025, will have the fifth selection in each of the three rounds of the 2025 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm. Golden State will begin assembling the team's initial roster when the league conducts the Golden State Expansion Draft on Friday, December 6 on ESPN.

The lottery odds are based on the cumulative two-year records (2023 and 2024) of the four teams that did not make the playoffs last season. With an overall record of 25-55, the Sparks have the most combinations taken (442 out of 1,000) and are guaranteed at least the third pick.

Dallas and Chicago, who have a combined record of 31-49 each of the last two seasons, will each have 227 chances per 1,000. Additionally, as a result of a trade in February 2023, Dallas has the right to swap first-round picks with Chicago, which it will exercise if Chicago's first-round pick is higher than Dallas' first-round pick after the draft.

Washington, 33-47 over the last two seasons, has a 108-in-1,000 chance of winning the top pick.

During the drawing, 14 balls with the numbers 1-14 are placed in a lottery machine and mixed. Four balls are drawn to determine a four-digit combination. The team assigned this four-ball combination receives the first pick. The four balls are then placed back into the machine and the process is repeated to determine the second pick. The team with the lowest two-year cumulative record whose number combinations do not appear in the first two four-ball combinations will finish third and the remaining team will finish fourth.

The order of selection for the remainder of the first round, second and third rounds – with the exception of Golden State, which owns the fifth pick in each round – will be determined solely by the reverse order of the teams' respective regular season records in 2024.

A representative from the league's independent accounting firm Ernst & Young will be present to oversee the Draft Lottery process.
