Fall 2024 weather forecast: Colorado's cooler temperatures | News

Welcome to fall 2024, it officially arrived in Colorado at 6:43 a.m. Today's weather will certainly feel fall-like as a storm slowly moves away. A few showers are forecast until around noon before drier air moves into the region.

Highs will be between 15 and 20 degrees below normal in Denver this afternoon. The average high temperature on September 22 in the Mile High City is 77 degrees. We'll be lucky if we hit 60 degrees today. Most of the state will see temperatures in the 50s and 60s. If you like it warmer, you'll need to visit the west side of the state.

The coming week is expected to be fairly quiet, with plenty of sunshine and very mild temperatures across the state. A weak weather system will move through the state late Monday and early Tuesday. It could produce a few isolated showers, but these would be mostly confined to the mountains.

Some of the forecast models show temperatures in the high 80s to near 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Denver by mid-week. That's unusually warm for this time of year and bordering on record highs. For now, we'll keep highs between 80 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Denver, but we'll have to watch closely to see how strong the approaching high pressure system will be.
