Primer: No. 11 Iowa State at West Virginia

AMES, Iowa – No. 11 Iowa State looks to extend its five-game winning streak in the Big 12 when it travels to Morgantown to take on West Virginia on Saturday night. The Cyclones are 5-0 for the first time since 1980 and with a win would improve to 6-0 for the second time in school history.

Iowa State's defense led by Jon Heacockleads the Big 12 and ranks sixth nationally allowing just 10 points per game. The pass defense was stout, yielding just 133.6 yards per game (fifth nationally). Overall, ISU allowed just 271.6 yards of total offense, 13th nationally and tops in the Big 12.

The longer the game lasts, the better the defense becomes. In the second half of games, ISU gave up just 4.0 points and 112.0 yards, and opponents averaged 1.4 points in the fourth quarter.

Iowa State has a +7 turnover margin, ranking it in the top 10 in the country. The Cyclones had 16 interceptions last season and already have eight in 2024, for a total of 24 picks in the last 18 games.
