Hans Zimmer will give a concert in the Vatican

On December 7, film music composer Hans Zimmer, who has produced soundtracks for The Lion King, Interstellar and more, will perform for the poor at the Vatican.

On December 7, 2024, the renowned film music composer Hans Zimmer will perform at the “Concert with the Poor” in the Paul VI Audience Hall. of the Vatican will perform its greatest works, the Holy See press office announced on October 10.

Around 3,000 homeless or disadvantaged people, with the support of the Vatican's Dicastery of Charity, will be the “guests of honor” of the event, at the end of which they will be offered a take-away dinner and other basic needs.

Launched in 2015, the “Concert with the Poor” allows major figures from the world of classical music to perform in front of an audience of people living in poverty, giving them the opportunity to live an extraordinary experience while supporting the charitable works of the to support the Pope.

In 2016, the great Italian composer Ennio Morricone gave one of his last concerts as part of this charity event. Another important appearance took place in 2019 when Nicola Piovani, composer of the soundtrack to the award-winning 1997 film, appeared Life is beautiful (La vita è bella).

Once again this year, one of the biggest names in film music is making a guest appearance at the Vatican: Hans Zimmer. The German composer has created more than 170 soundtracks throughout his career, including The Lion King, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Interstellar and, more recently, Dune.
