Oregon State football is invaded by the Nevada Wolfpack, 42-37

After the first kickoff, the Beavers started the score with an eight-play, 75-yard drive. Accurate passes from QB Gevani McCoy hit TE Jermaine Terry for a first down and Jeremiah Noga for 9 yards. Later in the drive, RB Anthony Hankerson rushed 28 yards down the sideline. At the goal line, the Beavers subbed in Jake Reichle, who scored the game's first touchdown.

The Wolf Pack responded with a 6-play, 75-yard drive all on the ground. The highlight was a 33-yard touchdown from RB Savion Red, who found a crease behind his left guard and raced into the end zone. Red would score three more times – with 4 touchdowns and 142 yards on 20 carries.

Oregon State's ensuing drive featured several key plays: On first-and-scoring, Beavers tailback Anthony Hankerson demonstrated his penchant for violence with three broken tackles and a thunderous spin into the end zone, but his touchdown was negated by a holding penalty on the TE made Bryce Caufield. On 4th and goal, the Beavers gave it their all and came away broke. McCoy passed a short pass into the end zone and targeted Caufield, but the pass was tipped and ultimately intercepted by Nevada DB Tori Daffin.

Nevada turned the pick into points with a 13-play, 78-yard touchdown drive. Five yards from the goal line, Red lined up in a wild formation and charged down the right side to give Nevada a 14-7 lead.

The Beavers needed an answer and an Everett Hayes field goal gave the Beavers a 14-10 Nevada lead.

At the two-minute warning, runs by Red, QB Brendon Lewis and RB Patrick Garwo III drove the football into Beavers territory. Then Oregon State's defense tightened up. A perfectly timed run blitz and diving tackle by LB Nikko Taylor moved the ball six yards. On 2nd-and-16, CB Andre Jordan Jr's tight coverage prevented a Lewis pass to WR Cortez Braham down the left sideline. On third-and-long, a Beavers blitz forced an early and incomplete pass. On 4th and 16, Nevada went deep with a fake field goal, but Melvin Jordan IV was not fooled. After receiving a pitch behind his holder's back, Nevada kicker Matthew Killam was quickly hit by the Beavers' linebacker.

Aided by a fourth down stop, the Beavers' offense ended the half to applause. In six plays, Oregon State took the lead thanks to a jumper down the right sideline by Jeremiah Noga and an 18-yard touchdown run by Hankerson. After Nevada gave up the lead, time ran out. The Beavs went into halftime trailing 17-14.

After close coverage by CB Sailasa, Vadrawale III denied a Nevada drive on third down. Oregon State's ensuing drive took 6 plays and traveled 67 yards down the field. On 3rd-and-10 in the red zone, McCoy found WR Trent Walker on a slant route for fresh chains. The following play was a pivotal moment for Hankerson: Pinned down by two defenders at the three-yard line, the Beavers tailback effortlessly spun free and trotted into the end zone for his second touchdown of the day, 24-14 Beavers.

With their backs against the wall, Nevada relied on its phenomenal running game. A 9-play, 75-yard drive featured 7 runs, including Savion Red's Herculean effort to get tacklers into the end zone to bring the home team within 3 runs.

Two consecutive penalties by Nevada defenders aided Oregon State's next drive, but on third-and-long Wolfpack CB Michael Coats Jr. stepped in front of a throw intended for Walker and secured Nevada's second interception of the night.

Red's electric run continued to shock the Beavers' defense, starting Nevada's next drive with a 28-yard carry. On 3rd-and-2 from the 6-yard line with 13:37 left in the final quarter, Red swept past his left tackle and darted into the end zone for his fourth touchdown. Additionally, this run marked Nevada's second lead of the night, 28-24.

On 2nd and wide from his own 47-yard line, McCoy was pressured by a Nevada blitz and targeted Jeremiah Noga with a pass down the left hash, but Nevada DB Kitan Crawford stepped up and took the ball 35-24 Nevada finished with 10:43 left.

After trailing by two possessions, the Beavs responded quickly. In 3:44, the offense marched 75 yards on 11 plays, capped by Hankerson's third touchdown run of the night. After five minutes, the Beavers went within two, but McCoy's shot up the middle for Walker was blocked by Coats Jr., making Nevada 35-30 with 6:59 left.

Before Nevada could respond, Oregon State successfully completed an onside kick that DB Mason White deflected just short of midfield. Then Nevada silenced two Hankerson runs, and DE Christopher Ross sacked McCoy, forcing a Beavers punt.

Nevada delivered a devastating blow on their next drive when Lewis kept it himself and ran 67 yards to the end zone, 42-30 Nevada with 3:58 remaining.

Trent Walker made a touchdown catch with 1:57 left to cut the deficit to 42-37.

Nevada recovered an onside kick and tried to run out the clock, but Oregon State head coach Trent Bray used his timeouts wisely. The Beaver defense made several crucial stops and forced a Nevada punt with :59 minutes remaining.

As time expired, Gevani McCoy hurled a “Hail Mary” prayer into the end zone, but Coates Jr caught his second pick of the night and McCoy's fourth.

The Beavers are 4-2 this season. They will return home and host UNLV next Saturday.
