Former Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh left Sunday's Los Angeles Chargers game against the Denver Broncos shortly before the opening game.

The former Wolverines coach was seen entering the blue tent at Mile High Stadium just before kickoff, where he was examined by the Chargers' medical staff. After a brief examination in the medical tent, Harbaugh went to the Chargers' stadium locker room for further examination.

He later returned to Denver midway through the first quarter.

What happened to Jim Harbaugh?

Harbaugh left the Chargers' game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday with what the team considered an illness. The Chargers announced on X (formerly Twitter) that it was questionable whether Harbaugh would return for Sunday's game.

The CBS broadcast showed Harbaugh leaving the sideline shortly before kickoff Sunday and heading to the blue medical tent at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver.

Harbaugh later returned to the sideline about midway through the first quarter.

In Baltimore, Ravens coach John Harbaugh – Jim Harbaugh's brother – had his postgame press conference cut short when a member of the Ravens' public relations department told him that his brother was going to the medical tent.

Who is the Chargers interim coach?

Former Michigan defensive coordinator Jesse Minter served in the same capacity in Los Angeles as the Chargers' interim coach when Harbaugh was out of the game.
