Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh had a strange start to Sunday's Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos.

The Chargers announced this that Harbaugh was escorted to the locker room by the Chargers' medical staff early in the first quarter an illness. The Chargers head coach was seen heading to the locker room during the Chargers' first offensive series against the Denver Broncos.

What happened to Jim Harbaugh?

The 60-year-old coach returned to the contest with just over seven minutes left in the first quarter.

Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter served as the team's interim coach while Harbaugh was in the locker room.

Without Harbaugh on the sideline, the Chargers ended their first drive with a successful 20-yard field goal from kicker Cameron Dicker, giving the club a 3-0 lead in the first quarter.

Harbaugh is in his first season as head coach of the Chargers after being head coach of the Michigan Wolverines for nine years.

The Chargers are currently 2-2. Los Angeles had a bye in Week 5.

Broncos CB Patrick Surtain exited

Surtain's Sunday afternoon ended abruptly. The Broncos' star cornerback suffered a concussion during Denver's first defensive series. The Broncos later ruled out Surtain for the remainder of the game.

Surtain entered Week 6 with two interceptions and four passes defended.
