Initial reactions to the horror sequel “Smile 2” call it bloody and violent, with an astonishing ending

The first reactions to the horror sequel Smile 2 are here and they are pretty positive. Check them out below.

GamesRadar+'s Emily Murray writes: “I loved #Smile2! Opening with a brutal opening, it is a rollercoaster ride of thrills with a standout turn from Naomi Scott as Skye Riley. It's too long and the jump scares do get boring, but overall I liked how Parker Finn escalated things compared to the first film.

“Naomi Scott leads a triple act triumph as 'Skye Riley' in Parker Finn's exceptionally well-directed #Smile2,” tweets TomMCJL of the Hollywood Handle. “An imperfect but violent, bloody and disturbing entertaining time with a welcome dose of humor and small but strong supporting performances from Lukas Gage and Kyle Gallner.”

Twitter user Lemon Garcia says: “#Smile2 is BIGGER than the first. This time he knows how to have fun! Naomi Scott delivers the best performance in a horror film this year. The recordings are fantastic. The ending is such a blast that you'll be excited to see what comes next.

YouTuber Don Santana writes: “Yeah… #Smile2 I was so impressed throughout the entire movie. The acting was fantastic, the choice of shots, the pace of the film, the horror action, jump scares were on fire, especially one scene that's not me.” I'll spoil it, but I'll just say two words: dance , House. BEAUTIFULLY made!

Horror host Bunny Galore tweeted: “Epic time at the Smile 2 premiere last night, a great rollercoaster ride of a horror film and @NaomiScott is glorious in a tour de force!”

Written and directed by Parker Finn, the film follows pop sensation Skye Riley as she becomes infected with the Smile Curse. As her world begins to spin, more and more disturbing things begin to happen to her and she begins to see the Smile Monster everywhere she goes. Not ideal when she's going on a big world tour…

Naomi Scott plays Skye, while Kyle Gallner reprises his role as police officer Joel, who was cursed with the Smile Monster at the end of the first film. Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley and Peter Jacobson also star, while Drew Barrymore plays himself.

Speaking about the decision to return for a second film, director Finn told SFX Magazine that he felt like they had only just scratched the surface of this story. “There was information that I had for myself that wasn't expressed in the first film and that I took as an opportunity to bring into the new one. So what Smile 2 does is show us new things. We felt like we had solved the secret in the first, but we may have only scooped a single glass of water from the sea.
