Could his subtle Sean Payton comment signal a big change on offense?

It was another inconsistent game from the Denver Broncos offense in their recent loss, but has Sean Payton hinted at a potential change for the team? Denver managed to make it a game, but ultimately didn't have enough time and just didn't do enough at the end of the day. This ended the three-game winning streak.

On the bright side, the Broncos are still 3-3 and have a very winnable game on Thursday Night Football against a much worse team in the New Orleans Saints, a team that lost rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler in Week 6 starter and will certainly be in the starting lineup again in Week 7 when Denver comes to town.

The Broncos' loss in Week 6 was due to a variety of things; Patrick Surtain II was literally injured on the first play of the game and was quickly eliminated. The defense obviously wasn't the same after that as the LA Chargers moved the ball at will. Costly penalties and turnovers were two other things the Broncos couldn't overcome in the end, but if nothing else, Bo Nix was very good in the second half, leading two touchdown drives.

After the game, head coach Sean Payton said:

After returning from injured reserve, rookie RB Audric Estime managed two carries and rushed for 13 yards in Week 6. The main thing here is that it was another brutal game from Javonte Williams. He averaged less than four yards per carry and had a costly fumble that gave LA points.

When Javonte Williams plays poorly, he plays very bad. With Estime now back in the lineup, one has to wonder if Sean Payton will involve him more in the offense going forward. Denver's rushing attack has been inconsistent all year, and with someone like Estime back for the first time since Week 1, this could be a welcome change in the Broncos' backfield.

I think a lot of us are just fed up with Javonte Williams. He is not a consistent player at this stage of his career and is not someone who needs to take as many snaps as he does. Another brutal game from the fourth-year RB definitely contributed to Denver's Week 6 loss.

Audric Estime was a strong prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft, and with teams able to find legitimate RB production throughout the NFL Draft, Estime could have a good chance to develop into something.
