Raiders News: AFC West Week 6 recap

Week 6 didn't exactly go well for the Las Vegas Raiders. Not only did they suffer a huge loss for the second week in a row, but the Raiders' loss to the Denver Broncos two Sundays ago looks even worse since the Los Angeles Chargers pulled off a pretty convincing win over the Broncos yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs had a bye, so we only have one game left for this week's AFC West roundup.

Chargers 23 Broncos 16

LAC statistics:

  • QB Justin Herbert: 21/34, 237 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT
  • RB JK Dobbins: 25 carries, 96 yards, 1 touchdown
  • WR Ladd McConkey: 4 catches, 43 yards
  • S Alohi Gilman: 10 total tackles, 1 sack, 1 TFL, 1 PD
  • CB Elijah Molden, 4 total tackles, 1 INT

DEN statistics:

  • QB Bo Nix: 19/33, 216 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 INT, 6 rushes, 61 rushing yards
  • WR Courtland Sutton: 4 catches, 53 yards, 1 touchdown
  • WR Troy Franklin: 2 catches, 31 yards, 1 touchdown
  • DL Zach Allen: 8 total tackles, 4 TFL, 0.5 sacks
  • S Brandon Jones: 12 total tackles, 1 PD

The scoreboard doesn't tell the whole story here, as this game was never in doubt for Los Angeles. The Chargers looked pretty dominant for most of the afternoon, taking a 23-0 lead in the fourth quarter. Nix started throwing the ball around in the final frame to improve his stat line, but it was too little, too late.

That leaves Los Angeles (3-2) in second place in the division standings and two games behind Kansas City (5-0). Meanwhile, Denver (3-3) sits in third place due to losses, while Las Vegas rounds out the AFC West.

  • Las Vegas starts as underdogs: Although we play the struggling Los Angeles Rams next week, the Raiders are 4.5 point underdogs for our friends at FanDuel Sportsbook.

  • The Raiders were rumored to have made an offer to get Jayden Daniels: “Word has gotten around, and none of us will ever know, but word has it that last year the Raiders were one of a few teams to go first up to three “rounders wanting to step up for Jayden Daniels and they've been told 'no,'” Jason Fitz said on Raider Nation Radio last week The morning flap.

  • Maxx Crosby talks about pushing the coach: “My phone dies while I'm lying in the cold tub trying to get ready for next week and people, you know how they do it – they're just crazy narratives,” Crosby said with a laugh, via Paul Gutierrez of ESPN. “Mike Caldwell is a great guy. We have a great relationship and we do this all the time. It's like people look at it like, 'Oh, they lose and then Maxx pushes him.'”
