Bengals Commanders – What to Look for

Burrow vs NFC

Burrow has won his last eight games against NFC opponents since Week 2 of the 2022 season in Dallas. He is tied with Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson for the longest active winning streak against NFC opponents.

Since that loss to Dallas in 2022, Burrow has completed 225 of 308 (73.1 percent) passes for 2,231 yards and 19 touchdowns with four interceptions in games against the NFC, for a passer rating of 108.3. The Bengals scored over 30 points in six of those eight games, and three of those performances led to Burrow being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Burrow is just one step away from the century touchdown

Burrow enters Week 3 with 99 touchdown passes in 54 regular-season games. With just one pass score on Monday night, he will become the seventh-fastest quarterback in NFL history to reach 100 in his career. Burrow scored two touchdowns in Week 2 at Kansas City, his 34th career game with multiple TD throws.

McPherson only two away from the century kick

Evan McPherson enters Monday night with 98 field goal attempts in his regular season. If he converts his first two attempts against the Commanders, he would have 85 total attempts, the third most by a kicker's first 100 attempts in Bengals history. Only Shayne Graham and Randy Bullock (87 each) have more attempts.

Money Mac has made five of five field goals so far this season, including 51 yards in Week 1 against New England and 53 yards in Week 2 against Kansas City. It was the fifth time in his career he made a 50-yard kick in consecutive regular-season games – he has never done that in three consecutive games.

Pass defense

The Bengals' 257 net passing yards allowed so far are their fewest in the first two games of a season since 2017 (209). Cincinnati enters Week 3 in second place in the NFL with 128.5 net passing yards allowed per game and only had to accept two interceptions from Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs last Sunday.

The Commanders have averaged 185.5 net passing yards through the first two weeks and have yet to score a passing touchdown. However, Washington has not lost the ball yet and quarterback Jayden Daniels is completing 75.5 percent of his passes with a 97.7 rating.

Bengals shine under Paycor lights

Cincinnati has won each of its last six prime-time home games since beating Pittsburgh in Week 15 in 2020 on Monday Night Football. Highlights of the winning streak include three Ring of Honor nights, two White Bengal games, Stripe the Jungle and Sam Hubbard's “Fumble in the Jungle.” The two highest viewership numbers in team history came during the current streak – an announced viewership of 67,260 in a Week 4 win over Miami in 2022 on Thursday Night Football and a 66,965 in Week 9 of last season against Buffalo on Sunday Night Football.

“You can feel the energy of the crowd,” said head coach Zac Taylor. “It's always been that way whether it's a day game or a night game. Night games are just special in my opinion. There are a lot of good memories here from the last few years where we've played well in these night games. I think everyone that walks into the stadium, all of our players that come out of the tunnel, feel that. There's that memory that we play well in that atmosphere.”
