Hits on David Pastrnak spark multiple Bruins-Panthers fights

BOSTON – Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery said he wants his club to get back to playing hockey and be more disciplined as Boston hosts the Florida Panthers on Monday afternoon.

Montgomery's message clearly missed the target because the Bruins conceded five penalties in the first period against their Atlantic Division rival.

Former Bruin AJ Greer ran along the wall toward David Pastrnak, causing the Boston star to come up with blood from his lip. Pastrnak's linemate Pavel Zacha ignored the hit and dropped his gloves along with Greer. It was only the second fight of Zacha's career. The first time he dropped the gloves was when he fought his now teammate Nikita Zadorov, when Zacha was playing for the New Jersey Devils and Zodorov was wearing an Avalanche jersey. Zacha lost both fights.

While the two were in the penalty box for fighting, Charlie McAvoy missed a few throws to Carter Verhaeghe. Unfortunately for the Bruins, Sam Reinhart scored his second goal of the season just six seconds into the man advantage.

When Pastrnak was asked to intervene against Reinhart, things continued to get dicey. Panthers defenseman Nate Schmidt ignored the hit and ran at Pastrnak, but before Schmidt could reach his goal, Brad Marchand literally jumped over Pastrnak and dropped the gloves with Schmidt.

This was the second straight Bruins-Panthers fight involving fisticuffs. Greer fought Boston newcomer Mark Kastelic last Tuesday at the American Bank Arena.
