Hamas plans more ambitious attacks on Israeli targets

Years before Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, beginning the region's latest war, the terrorist group was planning additional attacks, including a plan to blow up a skyscraper in Tel Aviv, while simultaneously putting pressure on Iran to to support him in the fight against the Jewish state, according to documents found by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, the Washington Post reported.

The documents seized from Hamas command centers revealed the planning of the attacks using trains, boats and even horse-drawn carts, according to the newspaper. The 59 pages of documents include an illustrated presentation detailing possible options for an attack, as well as letters from Hamas to Iran's top leaders in 2021 demanding hundreds of millions of dollars in funding and training for 12,000 additional Hamas fighters .

“Hamas is so determined to wipe Israel and the Jewish people off the map that it has managed to drag Iran into direct conflict – under conditions for which Iran was unprepared,” an Israeli security official said. who reviewed the letters and planning documents Post. The move to release the documents comes as Israel may take retaliatory measures against Iran after the Islamic Republic fired nearly 200 rockets on October 1 in response to the killing of Hasan Nasrallah, the leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist group.

“We promise you that we will not waste a minute or a cent unless it helps us achieve this sacred goal,” said a June 2021 letter with apparent signatures of Sinwar and five other Hamas officials.

Iran initially refused to directly intervene in the war between Hamas and Israel after October 7th. However, the conflict has expanded as its proxies continue to attack Israel on multiple fronts.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran accused Israel of spreading false information.

“We view the Israeli regime as a lying criminal, anti-human entity and do not believe their illusions,” said a mission spokesman. “They have a long history of spreading falsehoods, producing already forged documents and conducting fraudulent psychological operations.”

Among the plans seized by Israeli forces is a computer slide presentation showing a Hamas outpost in the northern Gaza Strip with options and scenarios for an attack on Israel, with targets ranging from military command centers to shopping malls.

Another described plans to demolish the Moshe Aviv Tower, a 70-story building in Tel Aviv that is Israel's second tallest building, as well as the Azrieli Center complex, which consists of three skyscrapers. According to the Post report, there is a large shopping center, a train station and a cinema.

“We are working to find a mechanism to destroy the tower,” the plan states.

Other attack plans included attacks on Israel's railway system and the revival of antique horse-drawn carriages as a means of transporting fighters and weapons, the report said.
