Scotland v Portugal LIVE: Latest scores and goal updates as the Scots take on Cristiano Ronaldo in the Nations League

Scotland are desperate to end their losing streak as Hampden face Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Nations League.

Steve Clarke's side are on a “tough” nine-game winning streak, but defeat to Croatia on Saturday means the Tartan Army will have to lose five games in a row for the first time in their history if the result doesn't go their way runs in Glasgow this evening.

The Scots have been hit by an injury crisis and a series of last-minute misfortunes. After defeats to Poland and Portugal last month, Clarke's side then scored the stoppage-time equalizer that would have salvaged a 2-2 draw with Croatia, which was ruled out for offside in Zagreb.

This means Scotland is facing relegation from the top division of the Nations League, but a win against Portugal and Ronaldo would significantly ease the gloomy mood.

The game will not be televised live as ITV has not taken over the broadcast rights, and can only be viewed on Viaplay International's YouTube channel. Follow live updates from Scotland vs Portugal in the Nations League below:

HT: Scotland – Portugal 0-0

No goals at Hampden Park, which will please Steve Clarke and Scotland. The hosts probably had the best chances too – Scott McTominay might have done better by heading an early header straight at Diogo Costa. Portugal increasingly controlled the game as the half progressed, but it still remains balanced as both teams look to improve their level after a few oranges in the half.

Not Cristiano Ronaldo's best. The striker deftly retreats to the edge of the penalty area, providing an inviting angle from which to shoot towards goal. However, he leans back as he strikes and inevitably it sails over the bar.

Scotland – Portugal 0-0, 38 minutes

Scotland press for the first time in a long time, resulting in a mistake from Nuno Mendes. Kenny McLean's diagonal pass may be too high for Ben Doak – but that's the kind of intensity Steve Clarke wants to see from his team.

Scotland – Portugal 0-0, 36 minutes

Strong defense from Andy Robertson, although he can't prevent a fifth Portuguese corner. The game is short and the guests pass the ball around the houses, so that the big men in the penalty area wait for a cross, which in the end never comes.

Ronaldo makes a better connection with a header but can't get it between the burly Grant Hanley and John Souttar.

Cristiano Ronaldo throws himself into the air and does an overhead kick, but it goes rather wrong. Apparently the striker was also whistled for a free kick.

The accompanying fans increase the noise, beating their drums and clapping in Icelandic Viking style, which is a bit reminiscent of 2016. Nevertheless, one can understand the Portuguese fans who want to remember this golden summer.
