TAIT'S EIGHT: Oilers overcome 'challenges' in comeback win over Flyers

6. E for Effort

After Skinner's save, the Oilers went on the power play. Although they didn't score, they showed the pinball magic that was so strong in last year's playoffs. The Oilers have scored just one power-play goal on nine occasions this season – not counting the only one disallowed for goaltender interference on Tuesday night – and it looks like they're starting to get heated with the man advantage.

“They looked good tonight,” Knoblauch said. “The way they relayed the shots they took wasn’t much. They clogged the ball and made it difficult to get shots through, especially up top from Bouchard, but he shot away. As soon as everyone felt it and fired some rhythm, then the goals will fall. And tonight I thought it was a good start.

5. Redeem

Then, later, Connor Brown, who struggled last season and scored his first goal for the Oilers on March 13 of this calendar year, put the puck in the net just to the right side of the crease for a one-timer , who led the game to a 2-2 draw. After waiting 70 games for his first goal last season, he has only scored in four games this season.

“We do a good job feeding off each other and kind of have that chemistry,” Brown said of his connection with Henrique. “We still talk quite a bit after every shift or every play about what we think or what we see. Sometimes it changes from game to game, but he sees the ice so well and I trust his feedback. “The same thing the other way around.”
