Dishonest agent who robbed NBA legend and hid Lakers offer? “I’m glad Jeanie and I sorted this out.”

Former NBA center Dwight Howard had one of the most unique careers in sports history. He is a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and eight-time All-NBA pick who won five rebounding titles, two shot-blocking titles, appeared in eight All-Star Games and won an NBA championship with the Lakers in 2020.

But for some reason, Howard is underrated for a star of his caliber.

The disrespect has spread to his pockets, where Howard took a beating after entrusting his assets to ex-agent Charles Briscoe, who, according to court documents, worked with Calvin Darden Jr. to defraud Howard of funds that Howard invested in a WNBA wanted to invest team.

According to Lakers president Jeanie Buss, Howard not only lost millions of dollars in revenue to his dishonest agent, but also missed his Lakers encore following the team's championship run.

“I was sad, I wanted to come back, and I didn't know what had happened,” Howard said painedly during a conversation with Buss on Above The Rim with DH 12 on Monday.

Buss interjected: “You accepted an offer from the Philadelphia 76ers.”

“No, see, I think we've just been told so many different things,” Howard replied. “And I think now that I look back at the situation that I had when my agent was actually convicted and was part of the whole crime. I don't even know what the truth was. Because I was told that you had no offer for me.”

When Buss retorted sharply, Howard learned that he had once again been deceived by his infamous agent.

“That's not true. We made an offer. We did,” Bus said before clarifying. “…It depends on the salary cap and timing. Because you have to get accepted offers if you have enough space.”
