San Diego Zoo activates Giant Panda Cam – NBC 7 San Diego

The San Diego Zoo launched a live online “giant panda cam” on Tuesday, allowing people around the world to follow the daily lives of its new giant panda bears Xin Bao and Yun Chuan.

The livestream, which launched Tuesday morning, offers a glimpse into the daily activities of 4-year-old female Xin Bao and 5-year-old male Yun Chuan during daylight hours in San Diego. The daily stream will appear again after dark.

The Panda Cam can be viewed at sandiegozoo.org/pandacam and requires viewers to provide an email address – to sign up for the zoo's newsletter – to see the pandas in their habitat.

This summer, Xin Bao and Yun Chuan, the first giant pandas in 21 years, arrived in the United States.

Zoo officials said in a statement that the two have “adjusted beautifully to their sprawling, bamboo-covered homes and now their playful antics and natural behaviors can be observed from anywhere, providing a unique glimpse into the lives of these charismatic giants.” .”

The zoo said viewers can distinguish the pandas by recognizing Xin Bao “by her large, round face and large ears” and Yun Chaun by his “long, slightly pointed nose.”
