Jason Segel is just as emotional Hoda Kotb'S Today Show Exit News as her NBC co-hosts.

“I’ll miss you when you’re gone,” Segel, 44, told Kotb, 60, after discussing the second season of his Apple TV+ series shrinkage on Wednesday, October 16, episode of Today. “I just want you to know that these interviews were some of the best of my entire career. So I’m really grateful to know you.”

Kotb, who called Segel “my friend” at the start of their chat, was touched by the actor's comments. The TV presenter appeared to have tears in her eyes and choked up as she tossed it to her co-host Savannah Guthrie.

“What’s happening over there? Wait, go back to the hug. There's a big hug going on over there,” Guthrie, 52, said to the camera. Guthrie followed Kotb and Segel's lead and lovingly hugged her upcoming interviewee Eddie Redmayne. “Look, take this, Hoda and Jason.”

Before the commercial break began, the camera panned to show Kotb and Segel lovingly hugging each other.

Kotb shocked fans when she announced she was leaving the morning show after working at NBC for nearly three decades on the Sept. 26 episode Today. “I just turned 60, and it was a monumental moment for me when I turned 60 because I started thinking about that decade and asking myself, 'What does this decade mean?' What does it hold? What's it going to do for me?'” she tearfully explained while her co-hosts were by her side. “And I realized that at 60 it was time for me to turn the page and try something new.”

Kotb attributed this to her daughters Haley, 7, and Hope, 5, whom she shares with her ex-fiancé Joel Schiffmanbecause she significantly influenced her decision to step down from the show. “I had my children late in life and thought they deserved a bigger piece of my time, the pie that I have. I feel like we only have a limited amount of time,” she said. “And despite everything, this is the hardest thing in the world.”

Kotb will leave Today early next year, but will remain within the NBC family for her future projects.

It is unknown who will take Kotb's place as Guthrie's co-host and Jenna Bush Hager'S Today with Hoda & Jenna Co-host. However, an NBC insider reported exclusively Us weekly last month that NBC Laura Jarrett is a top contender.

Earlier this month, Guthrie told exclusively Us that Kotb had been talking to her about leaving the show for “years,” adding that she found out about Kotb's decision “the Monday before the world knew about it.”

She added: “She called me and the first thing I said to her was, 'I'm proud of you.' I love you, you are amazing. And it doesn't matter where we sit, we'll always be by each other's side.'”
