Excited Dodgers pitcher taunts Mets as he leaves the field in NLCS Game 3

UPDATE: Dodgers starter Walker Buehler pitched four scoreless innings with six strikeouts in the 8-0 win. He walked two and allowed three hits over his 90 pitches.

Walker Buehler pitched in Game 3 of the NL Championship Series with so much emotion that he let the New York Mets know about it.

In his biggest moment yet on Wednesday, he escaped a bases-loaded, one-out second-inning jam with two consecutive strikeouts — first against Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez and the second against shortstop Francisco Lindor, who fired up a dirty knuckle curve ball Seven-pitch hit. At that point, the Dodgers were clinging to a 2-0 lead.

Buehler then exploded with emotion, first shouting to himself, “Let’s go!” and a few more words before turning to Mets designated hitter JD Martinez, who was leaving the field, shouting, “Swing the bat , JD!” Martinez was the first Mets batter to reach base in the inning with a six-pitch walk. (Buehler later hit him in the third inning.)

Buehler and Martinez were Dodgers teammates in 2023, although the Dodgers starting pitcher missed the entire season after his second Tommy John surgery. Buehler returned in May after a 23-month absence, which was also delayed by a hip injury.
