India vs New Zealand Live 1st Test Day 2: Rain interrupts play after India departs in shambles

Live result India vs. New Zealand, weather report Bengaluru, 1st Test Day 2: India won the toss and decided to play New Zealand in the first Test in Bengaluru on Thursday (October 17). India have made two changes to their squad with Sarfaraz Khan and Kuldeep Yadav coming in for Shubman Gill and Akash Deep.

Fans had to do the waiting game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, where the opening day was flooded due to torrential rains.

The rain did not let up enough to allow the state-of-the-art SubAir drainage system and ground staff to be deployed to get the arena ready for the start of the game. The forecast for October 17th is also not very promising, which keeps everyone's fingers crossed.

With more rain forecast for the coming days, the outlook for Day 2 is anything but optimistic. AccuWeather reports a temperature of about 27 degrees Celsius, with a “real” temperature of 31 degrees Celsius.

There's a significant 40 percent chance of rain and a 24 percent chance of thunderstorms later in the day, which could further complicate matters.

The good thing about the facilities at M Chinnaswamy Stadium is that its modern drainage system can make the ground ready for play within 30 minutes after any amount of rain. However, the hope is that there will be as few weather disruptions as possible to allow for competition between bat and ball.
