After more than three weeks of extremely dry weather over Colorado, the largest storm system of the season is moving toward the Rocky Mountain region. This time, the blast will bring rain in many parts of the state and heavy snowfall in the mountains in October. There is a chance of up to 60cm of snowfall in some of the more favored areas of the southwest mountains.

The Thursday before the turn of the week will be windy and dry across the eastern plains. That has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a high fire danger warning Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. East of DIA and Aurora outside of Nebraska. For wind gusts up to 56 km/h and humidity below 15%
