Virat Kohli's dismissal on the last ball leaves Rohit Sharma in shock

NEW DELHI: India staged a remarkable comeback in the second innings of the first Test against New Zealand but Virat Kohli's dismissal on the last ball of the third day shifted the momentum in favor of the visitors on Friday.
At stumps, India were 231/3 and were still 125 runs behind New Zealand after Glenn Phillips dismissed Kohli for 70, who had fallen behind on the last ball of the day in Bengaluru.
Kohli, who unsuccessfully reviewed his dismissal, shared a 136-run partnership with Sarfaraz Khan, who remained unbeaten on 70 runs.

India vs New Zealand Test: Focus returns to the Indian batters after a high-scoring day

Kohli's dismissal left India captain Rohit Sharma in complete shock. His reaction conveyed the weight of the moment and highlighted how crucial Kohli's wicket was for India.
With the team relying on their talisman to see them through a challenging period, the timing of the sending off made the setback even more significant.
Kohli also crossed the milestone of 9,000 Test runs, becoming only the fourth Indian to achieve the feat, following in the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar (15,921), Rahul Dravid (13,265) and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122).
Despite a rocky start in which he needed 14 balls to score his first run, Kohli eventually got his bearings, hitting eight fours and a six as he found his rhythm.
