Napa County Costco, which opens Friday, will boast the largest wine selection in U.S. stores

Two days before Costco opens in Napa, people are already lining up at the 15,417-square-foot store that will offer members bulk groceries and home goods at “the best prices possible.”

Allen Le, one of about 15 people camping out Tuesday afternoon, said he came from Sacramento to get “some alcohol.” He added that Costco employees brought out pizza for the group and were well taken care of.

On Friday, when the doors open, Costco employees expect the line to snake around the massive warehouse.

Here's everything you need to know about the grand opening.

Where is it?

Costco members in Napa no longer have to drive to Fairfield or Vallejo — or take a trip across the Mayacamas to Santa Rosa. The new store is located at 280 Riversound Way, just off Highway 221.

It is located at the southwest corner of Kaiser Road and Riversound Way, formerly called Syar Way, west of Napa Valley Corporate Drive.

This Costco is part of a 154-acre redevelopment of the former Napa Pipe plant along the Napa River. The residential and commercial development project is called RiverSound.

When is the shop open?

The company's regular opening hours are:

• Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m

• Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m

• Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m

What additional services will be available?

According to the Costco website, the Napa store will feature a food court, bakery, pharmacy, optical department and hearing aid center. The pharmacy is closed on Sundays.

These services complement the gas station and tire service center, which are open seven days a week.

The gas station opened on October 10 and is slowly starting to attract customers as word spread. The company has 32 gas stations and as of Wednesday afternoon was selling gasoline for $4.29 and $4.69 per gallon at regular and premium stations, respectively.

The gas station is open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The new store will house the largest wine selection of any Costco store in the country, a manager told The Press Democrat.

What is planned for opening day?

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, October 18th at 7:30 a.m. Costco is bringing in “someone special” to be an announcer for the event. The opening will also feature whiskey representatives signing bottles, including San Francisco 49ers Gold Bar.

After the ceremony, the store's doors will open at 8 a.m. with regular business hours beginning Saturday.

Are there any special offers?

New members Those who sign up for an annual membership and sign up for auto-renewal by November 17 will receive up to $40 in digital gift cards to redeem at Costco.

If you sign up for an Executive Membership for $130 per year, you'll receive a card worth $40. When you sign up for a Gold Star membership for $65 per year, you'll receive a $20 gift card. By Friday, Costco had set up membership sign-up tents at its new location.

Additionally, Costco typically introduces special items to boost sales at its new stores. What these are will be announced when the doors open on Friday.

How many people were hired?

More than 300 employees have been hired to work at the new Costco in Napa.
