Jay Cutler reportedly offered ,000 to the driver he rear-ended before being arrested for drunk driving

More details have emerged from former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler's drunken driving arrest earlier this week.

Poolice in Franklin, Tennessee – a suburb of Nashville – responded to a call Thursday afternoon after Cutler allegedly hit the driver in front of him.

According to police documents reviewed by WGN, Cutler allegedly offered the other driver $2,000 to not call the police.

Police said Cutler, 41, had bloodshot eyes and slurred his speech during the encounter.

Cutler allegedly told police he didn't drink alcohol before later admitting he had drunk “a little bit.”

Police said Cutler refused a field sobriety test and later had blood drawn for testing at the hospital.

The results of the blood test are still pending.

Police added that Cutler had a rifle and a loaded Glock in his vehicle.

In addition to driving under the influence, Cutler is charged with failing to exercise due care to avoid a collision and possessing a handgun while under the influence.

Cutler was released Thursday on $5,000 bail.

Cutler's NFL career lasted from 2006 to 2017.

He was a first-round pick of the Broncos and played three seasons in Denver, making the Pro Bowl in 2008, before playing eight years with the Bears.

In 2017, he was lured from the Fox Sports announcing booth to join the Dolphins.

Cutler threw for more than 35,000 yards in his NFL career, with 227 touchdown passes and 160 interceptions.

He was previously married to former MTV star Kristin Cavallari.
