3 quick Android 15 settings to change on your Pixel device

Now that Android 15 is available on all your Pixel devices, you're probably browsing through the settings and wondering what new you should be looking for. We've already given you a list of all the new Pixel Feature Drop elements, but thought there might be a few elements you should definitely change or at least consider changing.

Below are three settings worth changing in Android 15.

Android 15 – Adaptive Vibration

Adaptive vibration: You can adjust the vibration intensity on your Pixel phone while moving if you want gentler vibrations in a quiet place (like your desk) and stronger shocks when you're in a louder environment. Google recognized this need and developed Adaptive Vibration.

As you can see in the image above, this new setting “automatically adjusts your phone’s vibrations based on the environment, such as: “By using your phone's microphone and “other” sensors, Google believes it can determine noise levels and context and then adjust accordingly (without “ever” recording data).

To try it out, go to Settings > Sound & Vibration > Vibration & Haptics > Adaptive Vibration. A simple switch to To will push it live.

Android 15 – App archiving

App archiving: This next feature isn't necessarily a setting you can turn on or off, but it is a setting or option for apps on your phone that might be worth considering, especially if you're running low on storage space seems to be. App Archiving is part of Android 15 and gives you the ability to free up storage space by removing the bulk of an app while retaining important data like your login information. If you decide to bring an app back, you can do so and usually pick up right where you left off before archiving. It's a neat little trick.

If you want to archive an app and free up storage space, go to Settings > Apps, then tap See All xxx Apps to see the full list of apps on your device. Now tap on an app you want to archive and then tap the “Archive” button, which is now next to the “Uninstall” and “Force Stop” buttons. That's it!

If you want to restore the app app, just go back through these steps and tap “Restore,” which should appear instead of “Archive.”

Android 15 – Theft protection

Theft protection: Finally, be sure to check Settings for the new anti-theft protection that Google has released for Pixel devices. These new features attempt to immediately protect your device if someone steals it or you lose it.

You can enable its many parts by going to Settings > Google > All Services > Anti-Theft (you can also just search for “Anti-Theft” in Settings to find it quicker).

The first two are Theft Detection Lock and Offline Device Lock. These two options are really for when someone steals your device, as they try to detect that it's stolen and then lock it when they try to take it offline.

The third option is Remote Lock, which, as the name suggests, allows you to lock the device using your phone number associated with it.

This all seems like a no-brainer to turn on.

BONUS – Notification sync on Pixel devices: Oh, we already talked about this today, but if you have multiple Pixel devices, it will be very convenient to enable this new “Dismiss notifications on all Pixel devices” feature. Here you will find complete instructions on how to activate it.
