The New Orleans Saints opened Week 7 of the NFL against the Denver Broncos on “Thursday Night Football.” The disadvantage of such a quick processing goes hand in hand with the advantage of having ten days off until the next game.

Given the many injuries on the team, New Orleans could use the extended break to get healthy before the game against the Los Angeles Chargers. They could really use a bye week, but that's not for another month.

It looks like we'll see Spencer Rattler, but Dennis Allen seems optimistic that Derek Carr will play in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers.

“Do I think he’ll be ready for the Charger game? I'm not sure. I think that's questionable. I think it’s very likely next week,” Allen said.

The decision depends entirely on Carr's evaluation in the next few days. The plan is to “see how he does over the next three or four days and that will probably give us a much clearer picture in terms of his availability for this weekend.”

If Carr shows solid mobility, there's a chance he can return after the break. We'll probably get a benchmark for this early next week.
