How to watch the SF Giants at the Arizona Diamondbacks

The San Francisco Giants are about to play their second-to-last series of the season and their final road series when they head to the desert to play the first of three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks. While the Diamondbacks currently have a slight lead in postseason position, a good series from the Giants could put Arizona's playoff plans in jeopardy.

Opening the series is young right-hander Hayden Birdsong, making his 15th start in his debut season. The 23-year-old has a 4-5 record, a 4.74 ERA, a 4.94 FIP, and 71 strikeouts with 38 walks in 62.2 innings. In his last game against the Baltimore Orioles, he allowed three runs in 5.2 innings, but pitched much better than the numbers suggest… and that was after five shutout innings against the Milwaukee Brewers. In his last game against the Diamondbacks, however, he struggled, allowing five walks and two runs in just three innings.

On the other side is left-hander Eduardo Rodríguez. Injuries have limited the veteran to just eight starts in his first year with Arizona, as he didn't debut for the D-backs until August. In those eight starts, he's gone 3-3 with a 5.09 ERA, a 4.10 FIP and 36 strikeouts with 14 walks in 40.2 innings. But he's hit form and his last start was his best, as he struck out 11 batters and allowed just two runs in 6.1 innings at Coors Field.
