Is Penn State playing today?

Penn State will be idle in Week 8 of the college football season after returning from Los Angeles.

It's the Nittany Lions' second bye of the 2024 season, coming almost exactly a month after they were sidelined in Week 3 of the regular season.

While Penn State will undoubtedly appreciate the rest after a hard-fought win, it needs to make the most of its time off. This week will be the Nittany Lions' final bye of the season, as they will play each of the final six weeks of the year, which could be immediately followed by the Big Ten Championship Game.

After the bye, Penn State faces Wisconsin on the road before returning to Happy Valley for what will likely be its biggest game of the regular season: a home game against No. 5 Ohio State. After facing the Buckeyes, the Nittany Lions have no games left against opponents currently ranked in the top 25 of the two major polls. In fact, none of Penn State's last four opponents are more than a game over .500 prior to Week 8.
