Lakers rookie Quincy Olivari gets emotional after meeting Steph Curry – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

On Friday night, Los Angeles Lakers rookie Quincy Olivari came full circle.

Like many others, Olivari grew up watching and idolizing Warriors superstar Steph Curry. But unlike many, Olivari got the chance to meet his idol after the Warriors' preseason finale against the Lakers on Friday at Chase Center.

Olivari showed Curry a video of the two of them from years ago when the four-time NBA champion signed Olivari's Curry jersey after a game. Fast forward to Friday: Olivari wore his own NBA jersey while discussing his inspiration.

The 23-year-old guard was asked about the special moment while speaking to reporters after the game and became emotional as he reflected on what those few minutes meant to him.

“I liked him since I was in sixth grade,” Olivari said, choking up. “I don't even know what to say. This is my favorite player ever. The first thing he said to me was, 'I'm a big fan of your game.' And to be honest, I'm a big fan of his. He signed it twice. I just wanted to be like him.

“So just to get to know him and have him have some respect for me and then we chat in the background. He gave me his shoes and signed them. That meant the world to me. My father knows it, my mother knows it. It.” It just means a lot. I don't know, it just means a lot.

After their conversation, Curry gave Olivari a pair of signed shoes.

The Lakers guard later took to his Instagram page to further enjoy the moment.

“Dreams do come true,” he wrote, along with old and current photos and videos that perfectly represented his loyal fan base.

Curry later commented on the post.

“Pleasure, brother,” he wrote. “I appreciate you being real and telling me the story!!”

It's not every day that you meet your idol. However, when you do this, be sure to fully enjoy the moment.
