“He walked onto the pitch” – How Fonseca celebrated Chukwueze’s goal for Milan

Paulo Fonseca was delighted with Samuel Chukwueze's opening goal against Udinese and “literally walked onto the pitch to celebrate”.

DAZN on-field reporter Marco Russo described how Milan coach Fonseca celebrated the Rossoneri's opening goal against Udinese on Saturday.

The Portuguese coach is under pressure having lost four of his first nine games in all competitions. Fonseca was without Rafael Leao, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham for today's home game against the Bianconeri for technical and disciplinary reasons.

Milan took the lead in the 13th minute through Nigerian winger Chukwueze, who made the most of a good assist from Christian Pulisic.

“We have rarely seen such a celebration from Fonseca,” said DAZN reporter Russo. “He literally walked onto the field to celebrate.”

Chukwueze had never scored a goal at San Siro in Serie A since joining Milan from Villarreal in the summer of 2023.

The Rossoneri dominated the first 29 minutes, but the game changed drastically when Tijjani Reijnders received a straight red card for a foul on Sandi Lovric.
