Match report | Hat trick in the 4-0 win against Stuttgart: Kane impressively ended the latest goal flute | Bayern Munich – VfB Stuttgart 4:0 | 7th matchday | Bundesliga 2024/25

FC Bayern Munich ended its recent drought of results just as Garant Kane ended his recent goal drought with a whopping 4-0 win against VfB Stuttgart. Especially after the break, the Swabians had nothing more to report.

Clearly counted: Harry Kane shows his three in the duel with Stuttgart.

Something quite unusual happened in this top game right before the start of the game: Bayern coach Vincent Kompany decided not to make any personnel changes compared to the 3-3 draw in Frankfurt before the international break – also because Musiala continued to have to miss with hip problems. There were no two games with the same FCB lineup in the entire year of 2024. In plain language, this meant: Müller was once again allowed to play alongside Kane at the front, with the Kimmich/Pavlovic duo in front of the defense.

Meanwhile, VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß reacted differently to the recent 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim – with four changes: Demirovic, Rieder, Vagnoman and Hendricks were able to replace Touré, Millot, Mittelstädt and Chase (all on the bench). Führich (torn muscle fiber) and Zagadou (lateral knee ligament injury) were still missing, while Hendricks' appearance also marked his starting eleven debut in the Bundesliga.

Together with his teammates such as Chabot and keeper Nübel, Hendricks was then directly challenged because the home FC Bayern unleashed immense pressure from minute 1, pressed high and quickly scored.

Kane and Olise decide against graduating on their own

It started in the 3rd minute with a very dangerous attempt by Gnabry, who rushed past the goal on the right. Shortly afterwards, the courageous Swabians, who were pushing themselves at times, announced themselves with Undav – past the left (4th).

However, after an injury interruption – Pavlovic suffered a shoulder injury and had to be replaced by Joao Palhinha (9th) – Munich's pressure increased. However, from a promising position, Kane decided against his own shot and instead made an inaccurate cross pass towards the incoming Gnabry (11th).

18 minutes later – this Saturday evening game became more and more flat from a neutral perspective – Olise also made the wrong decision after some outstanding dribbling. He didn't trust himself to make a shot, only the ultimately bad short pass to Gnabry. In addition, Kane missed a header from a difficult position (31').

In short: Even though the record champions set the tone overall, were better offensively and exploited weaknesses on Stuttgart's left side, the hosts lacked brilliant ideas. The result was 0-0 at halftime.

Vagnoman must be annoyed

After the restart, Kane, who had been scoreless for some time, had the chance to make it 1-0, but the Englishman was unable to reach a cross pass from Gnabry (51'). And the goal didn't want to come on the other side either when Demirovic made a hasty finish from a difficult position and Vagnoman from the backcourt (54'). A missed shot with consequences…

1, 2, 3: Kane suddenly everywhere

Afterwards, the Munich team completely took over the scepter, dominated completely and made it 1-0 in the 57th minute. Kane, who had not netted in the England national team jersey at the end of September and throughout October, broke through his flute. After an assist from Kimmich, the veteran plucked up courage from over 25 meters and let the ball hiss flat into the bottom left corner. VfB keeper Nübel couldn't really get to it.

And after the FCB goal guarantor and Joao Palhinha despaired of strong Nübel actions, Kane made it 2-0. This time the 31-year-old made it 2-0 after a fine backheel pass from Müller (61'), before he was spot-on after a blocked shot from Joao Palhinha and also scored the hat trick to make it 3-0 (80').

In between, even more goals were possible via Laimer (76th) and again Kane (77th), also because the Swabian offensive was no longer coming towards Neuer. The final point to make it 4-0, which was ultimately also okay, came from Joker Coman after another Müller assist (89th).

With this win, after an impressive second half, FC Bayern moved back into first place ahead of Leipzig, who had the same number of points (2-0 in Mainz), and can now look forward to a trip to FC Barcelona and former successful coach Hansi Flick in the Champions League. Kick-off on Wednesday is at 9 p.m.
