KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Southern Homecoming Game

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Southern University has a few reminders for fans heading to campus to celebrate homecoming on Saturday, October 19th.

The Jaguars take on Alcorn State at AW Mumford Stadium. Kick-off is at 6 p.m

University officials expect large crowds and dense crowds on campus and fans are asked to arrive early to avoid congestion.

The areas on Isabel Herson Drive near Southern Lab School are available for parking. General parking is $20. Drivers parking in the metered/reserved parking spaces must have their hang tags visible.

Below you will find a schedule of events:

• 6:00 a.m. – Campus parking lot open
• 8:00 a.m. – The Homecoming Parade begins
• 12:00 p.m. – Ticket office opens at FG Clark Activity Center (limited tickets on east side)
• 1:00 p.m. – Block party begins in the northeast end zone of Tony Clayton Championship Plaza (free)
• 3:30pm – Gates open/Jaguar walk
• 3:30 p.m. – Special performance of Cupid
• 3:30 p.m. – Box office opens in the Fieldhouse
• 4:30 p.m. – All private suites are open
• 5:00 p.m. – Human Jukebox enters the stadium
• 5:25 p.m. – Recognition by the Royal Court
• 5:44 p.m. – Call
• 5:48 p.m. – National Anthem
• 5:59 p.m. – Coin toss
• 6:02 p.m. – Kickoff on ESPN+

There are clear bag guidelines at AW Mumford Stadium. Only clear tote bags smaller than 12″ x 6″ x 12″ are permitted in the stadium. However, fans are also allowed to bring one-gallon clear plastic bags and/or small hand-held clutch purses. Clutch purses must be no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ to be eligible.
