“I’ll get this back”… Conor McGregor rages after losing 0,000 stake as Francis Ngannou knocks out Renan Ferreira

Conor McGregor has insisted he will make his money back after losing a huge $500,000 bet against Francis Ngannou.

The Irishman picked outsider Renan Ferreira to beat the Cameroonian in his PFL debut. That was a massive underdog bet that could have netted $1.7 million if he won. But Ngannou completely dominated and, as expected, landed a first-round knockout that ended his hopes.

This came after McGregor pocketed a whopping $1.2 million from his bet on Alex Pereira at UFC 307, clearly making him confident in his earning potential. But he will face a tough defeat after seeing Ngannou come back with a win.

Francis Ngannou knocks out Renan Ferreira to win PFL Super Fights title

After 1,000 days without a fight since his last UFC title defense against Ciryl Gane, lineal heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou made a successful return to the cage on Saturday evening. After losing his two boxing matches in Riyadh, he finally made it to the list of victories in the Middle East.

Despite being considerably smaller than the 6-foot-2 giant, he was considered a strong favorite to beat 2023 PFL champion Ferreira in their clash. And he did exactly what was asked of him, slamming his rival to the mat before delivering brutal ground and punch strikes.

Fans on social media were outraged at how long referee Dan Miragliotta allowed him to land shots before stopping the fight. Many felt he could have saved the Brazilian from four or five more blows if he had stopped proceedings earlier.

Ngannou dedicated his victory to his 15-month-old son Kobe, who died in April after a sudden illness. It is unclear whether he will remain in MMA under the PFL banner or return to the ring to pursue a boxing victory.

Conor McGregor loses massive $500,000 bet on Francis Ngannou fight

While watching the pay-per-view event, Conor McGregor decided to place a bet on the heavyweight clash. He gambled $500,000 of his winnings from the Pereira bet a few weeks earlier on behalf of Ferreira, who was a significant underdog.

The Irishman was confident of taking the win and tweeted a voice note with his betting plans. “Tonight the bet is for me. 500,000 on Ferriera on May 12th. to win by knockout. $1.7 million return,” he captioned the message, which has since been deleted.

“Okay guys, this is 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor,” he said in the voice memo. “Fight night, fight night, fight night. The Mac is back with its winning bets. I have a 100% win rate on these bets. Ngannou loses tonight by knockout.

“12/5, the Brazilian will knock him out and I bet half a million on it and will win back $1.7 million. That's it. It’s a ruthless business and I’m a ruthless man.”

However, he didn't entirely like this result as he lost within minutes. That didn't seem to dampen his spirits, however, as he left fans a message that read: “THE RICH ONE GET RICHER, I'LL GET THIS BACK.”
