Baylor breaks three-game losing streak behind Robertson's 5 touchdowns, beating Texas Tech 59-35

LUBBOCK, Texas (KWTX) – Baylor ends its three-game losing streak, defeating Texas Tech 59-35.

Baylor came into Saturday's game after a bye week looking for its first conference win of the season.

After forcing Texas Tech to punt on its first two drives, Baylor's Bryson Washington exploded with a 44-yard run to set up Baylor's offense at the 1-yard line.

Washington finished the drive and scored a 1-yard touchdown that gave Baylor a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter.

On Texas Tech's next drive, the Red Raiders leaned heavily on star running back Tahj Brooks, who set up a 12-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Behren Morton to tie the game at 7-7 late in the first quarter.

The Red Raiders punted on their first drive of the second quarter and Baylor's Josh Cameron gave the Bears another explosive play, returning the punt 73 yards to set up the Baylor offense at the 1-yard line.

Washinton once again capped off the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run to regain the lead for Baylor, 14-7.

On the ensuing kickoff, Baylor fired a squibbed kick and a Texas Tech player stuffed the ball, allowing Baylor to recover and set up the Bears' offense inside the Red Raiders' 20-yard line.

Baylor's offense managed just 5 yards and settled for a 31-yard field goal to extend their lead to 17-7.

After the two-minute timeout, the Red Raiders lined up for a trick play as tight end Jalin Conyers threw a 20-yard touchdown to Caleb Douglas to cut Baylor's lead to 17-14.

With 8 seconds left in the first half, Baylor quarterback Sawyer Robertson connects with Cameron for a 6-yard touchdown to take a 24-14 lead into halftime.

Baylor kept its foot on the gas in the second half and maintained the momentum.

On the first drive of the second half, Texas Tech hands off on fourth down to Brooks, who rushes outside for a 31-yard touchdown run.

Baylor's responded by having Robertson cap a nine-play, 75-yard drive by connecting with Cameron on a wide receiver screen for an 11-yard touchdown, extending their lead to 31-21 midway through the third quarter.

As the Red Raiders' offense ran off the field late in the third, Baylor's Caden Jenkins intercepted Morton, setting up Baylor's offense near the midfield line.

The Bears took advantage of the turnover with Robertson throwing a laser to Hal Presley, who scored a 35-yard touchdown.

Baylor began the fourth quarter and continued to build on Texas Tech with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Robertson to Monaray Baldwin to extend the lead to 44-21.

Robertson extended Baylor's lead with his fifth touchdown of the day, throwing a 12-yard touchdown to Cameron.

The Bears' offense relied heavily on the running game in the fourth quarter to run the clock and secure the win.

Robertson excelled in front of his hometown, going 21/32 for 274 yards and a career-high 5 touchdowns.

Cameron benefited the most from Robertson's performance, finishing the game with 6 catches for 75 yards and a career-high 3 touchdowns.

Baylor returns to Waco to prepare for Oklahoma State to come to town next Saturday, October 26th.
