The weather in Chicago feels like fall

In Chicago, it already feels like autumn at the beginning of the week. The maximum temperatures today and tomorrow are unlikely to reach 21 degrees.

The skies will be mostly cloudy today. Rain will return to our area tonight, especially after midnight. The rain will continue on and off tomorrow and there could be thunder in some areas.

It's also possible that an axis of heavy rain could occur somewhere in our area. I could show you a computer model that is currently predicting 13 inches for Lake County, Illinois. I'm ruling that out, but there could very well be some areas that receive more than 2 inches of rain. That's something to watch for during the day tomorrow.

From Wednesday, temperatures will rise to 25 to 25 degrees Celsius and to over 25 degrees Celsius by the weekend.

The wild card for the weekend is a system developing off the coast of Honduras this morning. It is expected to develop into a named tropical system (Helene) and make landfall on the U.S. Gulf Coast on Thursday. This could bring tropical moisture here over the weekend that could affect the Bears' game on Sunday afternoon.
