Packers QB Jordan Love will “just keep playing”

Both the coach and the quarterback mentioned that this type of finish boosts the team's confidence. It also showed that Love has the quality to block out everything bad that happened — two early interceptions in this game and three three-pointers in the second half — to simply focus on the moment and what it requires.

His first interception looked like a telegraphed throw on a routine third-down stop route. The second was a fall on an aggressive opening play to start a drive, for which LaFleur criticized himself for calling the play against that particular Houston coverage.

But Love also fired a 14-yard TD pass through an extremely tight window to a diving Tucker Kraft, giving the Packers their first points of the game. He later raced to the line to catch the Houston defense pondering a replay challenge, then dropped a pretty 30-yard touchdown down the sideline into the hands of Dontayvion Wicks.

There's a give and take to Love's game, and it's important to remember that this was only his 25th NFL start, playoffs included. He's still figuring out what he can and can't do, but whatever happens, the one thing he won't be is to be intimidated.

“You just have to play the game,” Love said. “You have to go out and play it. You can't try not to be aggressive and do checkdowns all day long. You have to go out there and be aggressive and win these games. I will always do that.” Play the way I play, learn from mistakes and grow from them.

In other words, he will continue to attempt difficult throws because there are no easy ones on many plays. Not in this league. There is obviously a fine line between hard and risky throws, between trying to make a play and being careless with the ball.

No quarterback will have all of these answers after just two dozen starts. As they all do, love learns spontaneously.

“It’s the NFL,” Love said. “There won’t always be very open players. Sometimes you have to pass the ball in.”

“I’m going to keep playing… just keep playing, keep playing. That will never limit me. I have to continue to go out there and be the best player I can for my team.”

He was when he had to be Sunday. When he entered the group one point behind with 1:44 to go, the obvious was at hand.

“We knew what it was,” Love said. “It was just about winning the game.”
