Game overview

The first of two matches on Monday night to conclude week seven pits two of the best teams in the NFL: the Ravens and the Buccaneers.

Their success on the field has translated into success in the betting market. Tampa has a 4-2 record against the spread, but is just 2-2 in their last four games. In contrast, Baltimore has posted a 3-0-1 record against the team over the same period, all as favorites. Their only failure to cover came last week against Washington, where they held the league's best offense to just 5.5 yards per play and 23 points.

The Buccaneers put together their best offensive performance of the year, scoring 51 points against division rival New Orleans and are the away favorites by 3.5 points.

The Buccaneers have ranked in the top three in EPA per game since Week 4, largely due to an emerging ground game fueled by the three-headed monster Sean Tucker (Rush grade 90.8, first among defenders), Rachaad White (85.5, sixth) and Bucky Irving (79.9, 15th). This trio has posted the highest team rushing grade (92.4), the most runs of 10 or more yards (18) and the most yards after contact (354) over the last three weeks.

On the other hand, the Ravens have posted some of the best marks in various offensive metrics. The combination of Lamar Jacksonis over and Derrick HenryThe rush causes defensive coordinators many sleepless nights.

Henry has been tied for the NFL's best rushing grade (90.5) for six weeks. This represents a significant mismatch for the Buccaneers' run defense, which ranked 28th in team run defense grade (48.6) from Week 1 to Week 7.

The running game isn't the only strength of the Ravens' offense Lamar Jackson and his teammates have been explosive in the passing game in recent weeks. Since Week 4, Jackson has posted a league-leading 90.5 PFF passing grade, with six big plays and none turnover-worthy.

While Zay flowers has attracted a lot of attention for his impressive achievements, Rashod Bateman has quietly made significant contributions. According to PFF's Separation Report, Bateman has created separation on 74.65% of his opportunities, the second-highest rate in the NFL this season. This ability has directly led to him exceeding that limit in his last two games and in four of his six games in 2024.

Conversely, Tampa's coverage unit has struggled to limit explosive passes in recent weeks. They have allowed the second-most receptions of more than 15 yards since Week 4 (22).
