The Cardinals lose quarterback Desmond Ridder.

According to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero, the Las Vegas Raiders are signing him from Arizona's practice squad after Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell broke his right thumb in Sunday's 20-15 loss to the Rams.

Ridder started 13 games for the Falcons last season and completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 2,836 yards with 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. A third-round pick in 2022, he started a total of 17 games for Atlanta, posting an 8-9 record.

Ridder became expendable after the Falcons signed veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million contract in March. A day later, Atlanta traded Ridder to Arizona in a straight trade for wide receiver Rondale Moore.

With the loss of Ridder to the Raiders, the Cardinals only have Kyler Murray and Clayton Tune at quarterback. General manager Monti Ossenfort will likely add a third quarterback sometime this week and place him on the practice squad.

The Raiders still have Gardner Minshew, but he leads all NFL quarterbacks with 10 turnovers (including eight interceptions) this season. Vegas also has undrafted rookie quarterback Carter Bailey on the practice squad.
