Three trainers fight for a bargain in “The Battles Premiere”.

Tonight on “The Voice” the battles with trainers began Michael Buble, Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire And Gwen Stefani two of their 14 acts compete against each other in direct duels. In this round of competition, only one of the fighting artists will advance as a member of his team, while the other will be eliminated… unless another trainer uses his one steal to save him and bring the artist to his team.

In the second performance of the evening, Gwen was paired with a 15-year-old Sydney Sterlace against 19 year olds Sloane Simon to the current Billie Eilish hit “Birds of a Feather”. Sydney is an artist who chose Gwen after all four coaches turned her chair for her blind audition of “Drivers License”, while Sloane chose Team Gwen over Team Buble in the same round. After her Battles performance, Gwen stuck with her four-chair gymnastics routine and seemingly eliminated Sloane from the competition until all three other trainers hit the steal button for her.

In a post-performance comment, Michael told Sloane that her stage presence was “firm, structured and confident” and was “moved” by the connection the two artists had with one another. Snoop emphasized that age doesn't “dictate what you can be,” and said the two artists were equals in a performance that sounded like “one voice.” Like Michael, Reba gave Sloane the lead, although both artists showed confidence and a “strong stage presence.” All three coaches felt that Sydney had more potential to develop in the competition, which may have made Gwen want to continue working with her and trust that at least one of the other coaches would overtake Sloane.

To steal Sloane, Michael pressed first, then Reba, and finally Snoop. Michael immediately told Sloane that he was “devastated” that she didn't choose him in the blind auditions, and that he had told Gwen before that round was taped that he believed she was “the winner of this one.” could be a show.” Reba added that Sloane is “a very polished performer at her age” and Snoop wanted her to realize that he was the coach who would help her shine through. In the end, Sloane made the decision to support the coach who wanted her from the start and joined Team Buble. Funnily enough, Gwen couldn't remember Michael ever telling her that he thought Sloane would win the show, whether it influenced Sloane or not.

The other battles of the night were: Christina Eagle defeated Gail Bliss by Team Snoop on “Redneck Woman” Kendall Eugene above Alison Elena by Team Reba on “Bring on the Rain” Mikaela Ayira defeated Eliza Pryor by Team Snoop on “A Thousand Miles” Jan Dan hit Jaylen Dunham by Team Gwen on “For Once in My Life” and Kiara Vega overcome Mor Ilderton by Team Buble on “Iris”. Mor was saved from elimination by a theft from Gwen because she felt that she “knows what to do with him as an artist” and that his voice has a “unique, raw, reckless tone.”
