Fall mood – Boston news, weather, sports

Now that fall is well and truly here, expect a day like today… mostly cloudy and cool… If you're into that vibe, we have good news for you… it'll continue like this for the next two days! Here's the weather map for Tuesday…

We will be under the influence of the blue H east of Bangor Maine. Normally, high pressure (which is what the blue H stands for) brings sunny weather to a region, but the location of the blue H is the problem. The location of the high pressure will continue a northeasterly wind flow that will scrape moisture off the Atlantic and give us another mostly cloudy and cool day.

Some of these clouds may even produce brief rain. Afternoon temperatures will be fairly consistent, mid-18 degrees, a bit chilly for this time of year…

Wednesday will be more of the same… lots of clouds but little precipitation. A cold front will move in on Thursday and that front will bring us the highest chance of rain of the week… scattered showers.

After the showers have passed, dry weather will prevail on Friday and next weekend.

The next 7 days will see fairly calm weather, with a slight warming toward the end of the week and into the weekend. Our weather is calm, but the nation's big weather phenomenon will likely be a major hurricane approaching the Florida Panhandle late in the week.

As of the time of this blog post's publication (Monday evening), Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 is located about 100 miles south of the Cayman Islands and is forecast to become a hurricane by Wednesday when it reaches the eastern Gulf of Mexico. From there, the storm would move north into the Florida Panhandle as a major hurricane (winds over 111 mph) on Thursday.

This storm will not impact New England. Stay tuned for more information on this potential hurricane throughout the week.

Ciao first of all,

JR
