The best NBA bets today

Mikal made 1.5 three-pointers for the Celtics

Sleeper, 2:42 p.m. CT

Alex Barutha: There were concerns that Bridges would change his jump shot to poor results in the preseason, shooting 2-for-19 from distance. I don't want to dismiss this, let alone how tough the game is, but he averaged 2.7 points from distance last season. New York's bench is also thin, so I think the starters will have to play heavy minutes. It's possible this is as low as we've seen Bridges' three-point defense all season, so I'd like to take advantage of it now.

Karl-Anthony Towns records at least 35 points + rebounds (+135) against Boston Celtics

DraftKings Sportsbook – 1:45 p.m. CT

Kirien speaker: I completely fell in love with the style of the great man in New York. Thibs posted the best numbers of his career when he was in Minnesota, and I expect the veteran coach knows what buttons to push to get the best out of KAT. Although I am confident in Towns' prospects for the entire season, this duel is particularly exciting. Boston doesn't have Porzingis yet, so the center rotation will consist primarily of Al Horford and Luke Kornet. Additionally, Boston will be riding high after raising the pregame banner, and New York will be eager to prove their new-look squad can hang with the best. I expect the Knicks to involve Towns early and often, and he should have an impressive performance in his debut.

I take the Knicks +6 over the Celtics

(FanDuel, 12:20 EST)

Ken criteria: I'm a die-hard Celtics fan, but things are getting too hot in Beantown. The banner ceremony tonight will be amazing and the entire arena will be filled with good vibes. And that's why the Celtics will be weak against a New York squad that just added KAT and Bridges. The Knicks will take advantage of the opportunity to get a win against the all-too-happy favorites for 2024-25. In two months everyone will forget the premiere defeat. But in the short term, the world champions are expected to be disappointed. Remember, this squad had three Olympians. Unusual off-seasons often result in slow starts. The K-Train was 36-29 last season, so feel free to tune them out!
